PDO Threads

PDO threads (polydioxanone) are a biodegradable synthetic suture that breaks down in the body in approximately 6 months. They are surgical grade materials that are well accepted by our body. PDO threads are an excellent non surgical option for lifting, skin reinforcement, face shape strengthening and correction. The evolution of thread lifting techniques and their application in the field of aesthetic medicine is now in its third decade. PDO threads have small barbs on them that allow it to anchor into the tissue which results in the ability to lift and pull the facial tissue. The PDO thread is inserted into the skin using a fine needle. The needle is removed and the thread stays in place. This triggers cells in our body called fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin. The collagen and elastin will replace the thread once it is dissolved providing structure and elasticity. The are a variety of threads available for use to address different concerns or aesthetic outcomes.

Results can be seen immediately and take up to 2 weeks to settle. In most patients results can last up to 2 years. It may be recommended to have more than one treatment after 6 weeks depending on your individual anatomy and desired outcome.
